Today, February 13, 2026, an extraordinary meeting of the National Coordinating Committee was held under the chairmanship of Mr. Abdullozoda J., Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan and Deputy Chairman of the National Coordinating Committee to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria in the Republic of Tajikistan.
The meeting was attended by members of the National Coordinating Committee, representatives of a number of ministries and departments, international and non-governmental organizations.
Ate the meeting was discussed the transition of the role of principal recipient of the Global Fund grant under the 8th grant cycle (2027-2029) for HIV and tuberculosis prevention and control in the Republic of Tajikistan from the United Nations Development Programme to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan. In particular, Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Amirzoda A. noted that the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan, through its structures, has been actively involved in the implementation of Global Fund grants for many years to effectively and timely implement programs to combat HIV and tuberculosis and has achieved significant success in the areas of prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care. Specifically, in 2025, a Project Implementation Unit was established under the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population as a subrecipient of the Global Fund grant, and it is appropriate to transfer the status of principal recipient of the Global Fund grant to the Ministry in the 8th grant cycle.

It was noted that the transition to the national principal recipient model in the next cicly is consistent with a number of factors, including adherence to the Global Fund’s policy on ensuring timely, planned, and managed grant implementation as part of a sustainable transition to Global Fund cofinancing. Given the completion of the current grant and the results achieved, the National Coordinating Committee decided to designate the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population as the Principal Recipient for the 8th grant cycle.
In this regard, the National Coordinating Committee also discussed and approved the draft “Plan for the Transition of the Principal Recipient from the United Nations Development Programme to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan within the 8th Grant Cycle (2027-2029).”
