Meeting with partners to conduct a mid-term review of the National Program to combat the HIV and AIDS epidemic in the Republic of Tajikistan for the period 2021-2025

Today, as part of the Mid-Term Review of the National Program to Combat the HIV and AIDS Epidemic in the Republic of Tajikistan for the period 2021-2025, a working meeting was held with the participation of the evaluation mission of the World Health Organization (WHO). The meeting was attended by members of the National Coordinating Committee to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in the Republic of Tajikistan, representatives of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Tajikistan, other ministries and government agencies, UN organizations working in the field of HIV in Tajikistan, including the mission WHO, international and non-governmental organizations.

During the meeting were presented the purpose and objectives of the mission and were discussed issues related to the implementation of the National Program and the achievement of national indicators. The WHO mission, consisting of 9 experts on various components of the program, will work from January 23 to 27, 2023, and will present the main conclusions and recommendations for improving the implementation of the National Program to Combat the HIV/AIDS Epidemic in the Republic of Tajikistan for the period 2021-2025.

The participants noted the importance and timeliness of the mid-term review of the program, the results of which will be taken into account in the preparation of a request for a grant from the Global Fund to Combat HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis in the new cycle for 2024-2026, allocated to Tajikistan.

The Republic of Tajikistan plans to submit an application in March this year.
